چکیده
This numerical study is done to evaluate the effect of confinement on axial capacity and ductility thin section columns using plastic damage plasticity (CDP) model in Abaqus. Seven specimens short with size 100x400x300 mm subjected uniaxial compression loads were analyzed based material parameters modeling technics that first validated an experimental specimen. The variation was made by changes configurations column hoops giving volumetric ratios such as 1,06% (C1), 1,16% (C2), 1,25% (C3),1,34% (C4), 1,69% (C5), (C6) 2,02% (C7). All specimen models have longitudinal rebars 10D13 (As = 1327 mm2) Ø5.6 a yield strength 437 MPa 284 MPa, respectively. compressive concrete 21,5 considered according tested for validation. results show finite element analysis can predict well behaviors terms stress concrete, reinforcement, crack pattern. increasing hoops' ratio increase core but not column's ductility. maximum 87.15% occurs C4 1,34% lowest 58.14% C3 1,25%. C7 highest 2.02% increases only 65.27%. effectiveness determined higher values also proper obtain effective confining effects core.
